Since God is gracious and compassionate, wouldn't He consider
us righteous although we have sin in our hearts if we believe in
Jesus?
God is Love and also righteous. Hence,
He is upright and judges sin no matter what. "The wages of
sin is death" (Romans 6:23). It means that a sinner is destined
to hell after being judged. He separates the righteous from sinners,
just as He did the light from the darkness. God calls those, who
have no sin by believing that Jesus washed away all their sins through
His baptism and was crucified to be judged for their sins, to be
righteous.
However, those who still have sin in
them, for not believing in the baptism of Jesus, are sinners in
the presence of God. They're the ones who don't believe in the water,
in other words the baptism of Jesus, just as the people at the days
of Noah didn't. If God considers those who still have sin in them
righteous and sinless, then He must be lying and therefore cannot
judge or reign all His creations.
He said, "I will not justify the
wicked" (Exodus 23:7). The wicked are those who follow and
depend more on the tradition of men, setting aside the gospel of
water and the Spirit, with which God has redeemed us from all our
sins in the most just and fair way. Jesus said, "Of sin, because
they do not believe in Me" (John 16:9). It is the only sin
left on earth now not to believe in the fact that Jesus has taken
away all our sins through His baptism and the Cross and has become
our Savior. This is the sin of blaspheming against the Holy Spirit,
which can never be forgiven. There is no other way at all for those
who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit to be saved because they don't
believe that Jesus has washed away all their sins.
The apostle John said, "Whoever
commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. And
you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him
there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins
has neither seen Him nor known Him" (1 John 3:4-6). It is committing
lawlessness not to believe in the fact that Jesus has taken away
all our sins by His baptism and the Cross, and those who commit
lawlessness shall be rejected by Him on the last day. Those who
abide in Him have no sin and are united with Jesus by being baptized
with Him. Those who have laid all their life-long sins on Him through
His baptism have no sin even though they still sin because of the
weakness of the flesh.
God calls those, who have laid their
sins on Jesus and have become sanctified by the law of the Spirit
of life, to be righteous. And He gives them the Holy Spirit as a
gift. The Holy Spirit never comes upon those who have sin in their
hearts. The Bible says, "For You are not a God who takes pleasure
in wickedness, nor shall evil dwell with You" (Psalms 5:4).
The Holy Spirit of God never dwells in the hearts of those who have
sins in them. A sinner who doesn't have Holy Spirit in him may say
that he has no sin according to doctrines and his own thoughts.
However, he can never say that he has no sin and is righteous from
the heart with faith because his conscience smites him.
Therefore, he says that he is a sinner
in the sight of man, and a righteous man in the sight of God. But
God never calls a sinner righteous. A sinner is the subject of judgment
and he must believe in the gospel of water and the Spirit.
